Ideas are Bad
Or maybe not...

So after finding the article about the tweed rides, while we were walking to the Clockwork Ball we pass a bicycle shop and Michelle goes "So, when are we going to go shopping for bikes?"

Then this morning I was seriously thinking about how much fun a fall steamy-themed bike ride would be. And I keep saying I want a bike, which is way more fun than walking around, and I can't run so covering long distances and seeing lots of neat things on the way takes a lot of time.

I also found these very convenient bike trail maps.

So...the Bicycle Chain shops are open on Sundays...who wants to go browsing on the 12th? I'll be out of town for the 4th holiday, and the next Saturday is Unbirthday tea party!

Will and I already have nice (and unfortunately, matching - it was the only colors they had in our size!) bikes, and fancy outfits, so we're prepared for a Tweed Ride AT ANY TIME!

(Note: I approve that you're saying autumn, because 90 degrees + tweed = no.)

The bike trails that connect Meredith and the NC Museum of Art are pretty rad - and you get to go over 440 on the crazy glowing bridge!

I have a bike at home in Charlotte, but I think the tires are flat and it doesn't look old-timey :p Not sure if I even remember how to ride one properly, common everyday mottos insisting the impossibility of such a thing aside.

I don't know that old-timey single speeders would have to be a requirement, but attire would be!

Yes cooler weather is a MUST!

Man, I'm getting really excited about planning this out and making it a Thing...there seems to be a supportive enough steam/victorian community that this could be really spiffy! Of course even if it's just us, that would be awesome enough.

The "Davenport Sisters" who are the ones who do a steampunk radio show, and organize the clockwork balls have a really good presence on facebook - I'm sure you could network through them to get more people once you get the details sorted.

They usually get posted here on the myspace page. But Leah also says they do facebook, so it might go up over there too.

Bikes are what grown ups use to torture uncoordinated kids.

But you are not an uncoordinated kid!

No, I'm an uncoordinated adult who cannot ride a bike. :)

Annie is the reason I was going to suggest a picnic or something afterwards.

HEY ANNIE! I'm sure Bob has a Segway or something he'll let you borrow!
