I feel like a librarian today. I have a tweed mid-calf length brown skirt, a cream button-up shirt with the fun buttons on the shoulders, and brown boots. I figured a jabot would be a little overkill.

I got up early enough to iron my shirt. Something is clearly wrong with me.

I need to finish up a bachelorette gift for Amy tonight, and clean my house! Mom came up for her birthday yesterday rather than spend it alone with the cats while Dad is out of town. We weren't very exciting, and she even paid for the pizza we went out for. It's really sad when you and your brother pull out wallets to pay for your mother's birthday meal and she doesn't let you because she knows you are broke and/or unemployed. Mothers.

She's staying at my place tomorrow night so I'm making another attempt at paying for dinner. That, or I'll cook something. Not even the woman who gave birth to me is exempt from my belated birthday offerings. I'm going to knit here one or two of the cabled rag mats I made for myself a little while back. ...Just as soon as I find time to tear up more fabric. At the very least I can promise she'll have them in the house when company starts arriving at Thanksgiving for the wedding!

Yum.

So Amy and I threw together our birthday party this weekend. By which I mean we planned it and came up with lots of awesome ideas and spent a lot of time in party, craft, and fabric stores, but did none of the work until the week of. Yay!

Everything got done, however, and we had a lot of fun doing it. Although Lucas probably won't let her come over and play for a little while because she was at my house almost every night last week. :)

I have fantastic friends. Despite having to drive home late at night, they travel miles and miles to come to a party, and they dress up in costumes and don't bat an eye when I send them out into my neighborhood, in daylight, for my own amusements. I waited a year before unleashing the true crazy on the community. The HOA can't stop me, hahahaha!

The original premise for the party game was quite different. It was going to be clue-driven but when we were trying to come up with riddles and things to lead the victims guests from one location to another they all came out really really lame. But we were so tired that by Friday night at 10 pm they were also really really hysterical. So we scrapped the clues and just slapped the locations on a map and said "Go!". Each location had a photo prompt for the group to play out.

Curses that my birthday fell on a Thursday this year because it felt like Friday, but it wasn't. But if my life were a musical, yesterday would have been a sample of what it would be like. My office-mate brought in doughnuts and left them in the breakroom, but put up a sign stipulating that if you took one you had to find me and creatively wish me a happy birthday. So my day was punctuated by people randomly bursting into song, dancing a jig, zinging paper airplanes at my head, and Spider-Man stickers. Oh and a bunch of doughnuts followed by poundcake with strawberries.

I finally beat Craigslist and bought a computer armoire yesterday. No more getting sniped or finding the listing too late!

Mom came up yesterday and met me at work. She went out with me to take a look at it, and I was pretty much sold on it just wanted to poke it before committing. I love it. I'm hauling it home on Saturday and will gleefully spend this weekend getting it settled. That means I now have an extraneous table-used-as-computer-desk sitting around I'm not quite sure what to do with yet. Maybe a craft table for the loft...

Really, I should stop obtaining furniture and focus on fixing the kitchen and/or bathroom...but it's so much fun!

After the adventure I went with Mom and Michael to Waraji and ate myself stupid, with enough leftovers for lunch today!

Birthday Suit Box Packin'

I was a total slacker the past two nights and haven't packed nada squat. So this morning when I was digging through my closet for work clothes I packed a box, naturally. Just one. But that's one more that I won't have to do tonight!

Good birthday so far! Hoorah 27.

Tonight won't be anything special, besides packin'! But that's okay because I gots a house which makes it feel like a holiday. And since our family has not convened since, mmm, probably Christmas for more than a single meal or a few hours together, on Sunday we're doing an Easter/Mother's Day/Amy Birthday/Me'n'Dad Birthday/Father's Day barbeque way-too-much-food binge on Sunday. In my new house. Eee.

I got Phoenix Wright 3 for my birthday, from [info]strife2002, which is just awful because I want to play! But I have to pack! *whiiiiiine* And buy a metric ton of water for this weekend so my movers don't die of heat stroke. Cuz that's bad.

So, in the end, Ye Olde Day of Birthing was not a complete waste of time. It just took a week.

My parents left this morning, and I crawled back into bed with the cats for a few hours. I have leftover hibachi scallops in the fridge for lunch, and I have Lowes supplies to finally strip and refinish this nifty chair that has been dismantled sitting in a box out in storage, which I will do today!

Add another piece to my growing collection of random cool ass dish ware. The sib and his girlfriend got me a nifty serving bowl and filled it with mini candy bars. And I got The Complete Concordance for the DT series to read through once I've finished reading the series.

I am going to go outside and play with naval jelly and spray paint now!

Birthday Review

Nothing happened.

No calls*, texts, e-mails, LJ's, smoke signals, or greetings via carrier pigeon.

No one was available for lunch, no one was around to go to dinner.

Even my OFFICE forgot. Because at three in the afternoon there is a sudden scramble and a large cookie shows up on my desk with a card from the grocery store down the road. The card had fall foliage on it. *checks calendar and the 90 degree weather outside*...and what makes it even better? I got cat toys. "Because we didn't know what to get you."

I'M THE #@$*! CAT LADY!

At least Tiggy liked hers, and moved her fat ass more last night than she has in awhile.

So by 9 o'clock last night I was thoroughly miserable. I stewed in a bubble bath and crashed early.

My Dad can't croak early. This was my first birthday without family or anyone on the actual day, and it SUCKED.

*Two people called; my mother, and my sibling but they both said they're family and "don't count". Andrea e-mailed me, who I haven't spoken too in months, but she remembered my birthday.

Thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes! I had a good day. I got to sleep in, got to start reading my Trigun, got kick ass dinner tonight!

Dad surprised me! He not only bought my present all by himself, he did so months in advance! There was father-daughter fandom bonding, for he got me an Evenstar pendant! It's soooooo pretty! I also have gift certificate goodness!

Happy Birthday to Meeeee...

23 and about 5 pounds lighter ^^

was just wallowing in my room after having slept in, hadn't taken a shower, can't hear the phone in my room. Mom calls my cell "hey, I got you a hair appointment for today for your birthday, go do something different!"

So I fly around the house and get ready, run outside...no car! Four people, three cars, all four of us forgot to do the math (and I work this afternoon). So mom buzzes over and I drop her off at work and go do this "hair cut" thing.

It's shorter than yours is Snicks ^^ Shoulder-length. For awhile I thought I'd slip into shock or hyperventilate, but I think I like it. I feared coming out with a haircut that made me look 12, but I don't think it does. No more tension headaches! I love my hair long, but it was getting heavy and was a literal pain in the neck. Contemplated doing the Locks of Love, but I didn't want to go that short to get the requisite 10 inches (it would have been about to my jawline)

tweaking/uploading Nanomango page 3 now (yes yes I know, still behind) and I thought I'd get page 4 done, but the haircut ate my afternoon.

Mel and Panall are taking me out to see Harry Potter tonight ^-^ 10 o'clock showing, I'm gonna be pooped at work tomorrow! Late b-day dinner tomorrow, so Nanomango gets catch up on Sunday (3 pages o.O ack)
